Picking A Padlock
Pick a Padlock—It’s Easier than You Think!
When you lose your keys it can be a very stressful moment when you realize you can’t open up whatever it is you have locked up.
But, if you used a padlock and lose your keys then don’t worry, you can learn to pick a padlock in just a few short steps and then if you
ever need to use this skill you will be ready. The following steps will show you just how easy it is to pick a padlock.
First, you will want to practice on a free padlock that is not already connected to something and make sure you
have got a pick and a tension wrench ready.
The first thing you will need to do is insert the tension wrench. This should be done at the edge of the keyhole that is largest.
Now, insert the tension wrench all the way at the edge of the keyhole and maintain pressure on the tension wrench while you insert the pick. It
is important to keep tension on the wrench the entire time and many people find holding it down with their left index finger is the easiest way
to do so. When you insert the pick start feeling around for the pins. Once you find the pins you will need to push them down. After you have
accomplished this simply remove the pick, turn the tension wrench, and watch as the padlock opens up as if you inserted the key!
The first time you accomplish this task you will normally be overwhelmed with both pride and amazement that
it really worked. You can do it in under 10 seconds if you keep on practicing, which is a good idea if you want to become a master lock picker.
Just make sure you keep the correct techniques in mind and use the tools that are recommended in order to have the most success at lock
picking.
